I'm having trouble opening the Provider source files in Visual Studio 2008.  The project fails conversion.  Do you have a 2008 compatible source package or do I need to manually convert?

Not for the .03 release but the .04 beta does have one.

NOTE: I'll hopefully be releasing a new beta this weekend. My submission to the DNN Release Tracker failed because of problems when detecting Medium Trust. The provider is supposed to gracefully bypass everything if running under medium trust but it isn't in the latest release.

Great, thanks!

I'm looking at a possible mod for an installation where they need to create some "virtual" groups based on rules - ie. if you're in certain combinations of AD groups, then you get a specific DNN group.  I'm thinking the simplest way to do that is to apply the business rules at the time the groups are synchronized between AD and DNN.  The ultimate goal would be matrix security which I have not seen an obvious way to implement as yet.

Am I crazy in this approach?

Not really. It should work but would be a pain everytime they decide to add a new virtual group unless you're going to write a module that handles that.
