I need to be able to make an existing user an SuperUser. I attempted to do this by changing the attribute of the IsSuperUser value from 0 to 1 in the Users table.

This did not work in that when the new superuser is now logged in and I go to the User Accounts admin section I receive the following error:

Error: User Accounts is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.HtmlUtils.FormatEmail(String Email) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Users.UserAccounts.DisplayEmail(String Email) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

SO changing this attribute is not the obvious solution to my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Frank

I added the user to the administrator group and made him the portal admin and I am able to see the users perfectly. The problem only occurs when I flip the super user flag.

So I am back to my original question. How does one make an existing user in DNN a superuser?

Also, can a potal have multiple admins, or is this limited to a single user in the Administrator's group?

Thanks,

Frank

I have exactly the same problem - flipping the superuser tag prevents me from logging in. If I log in before flipping the tag, then flip the tag I become a superuser. So I have the same question as Frank - how does one make an existing user in DNN a superuser without having to faff about with the database all the time?

Thanks,
Rob

I also have this problem, and I am using DNN 4.02.  I have a need to have multiple SU's in two separate DNN instances.  One is using Active Directory, and the other isn't.  However, with either I have found that you cannot add users or change existing ones to be Super Users.  This has to be a glitch of some kind, because I have not changed the core in either instance.

If anybody has an answer to this thread, I would surely appreciate a response.  I have been struggling with this for a bit.

I am having DNN 3.2.2 auto login based on the windows login, but it doesn't let me log in as Host.  So I thought a nice solution would be is to create a small module to allow a user to turn on or off the 'super user' status for a user that has a special 'super user' role.
