What is the best way to offer a product for download only to website subscribers that pay an amount to have acccess to download for a specified time frame? I am using the latest version of dnn3.2.x as of 3_06. I see that paypal is integrated but I am not sure how to setup access for a number of months based on subscription choice.

This article by Scott McCulloch should get you started with understanding subscriptions;

You also can create numbers of different roles or 'subscription levels' and give them out to individuals with expiry dates set individually.
