I have developed a skin object which when installed on a container appears okay in IE.  That is, the container automatically expands to hold the skin object entirely.

When viewed in Firefox, the skin object not only spills outside the container, but also hides behind adjacent modules.

I'm testing using the default DNN Blue skin in DNN3.2.2.  I have already tried to adjust the z-index without sucess.

Does anyone have other suggestions on how to deal with Firefox in this situation?

I don't have a quick solution for you but it can be caused by:

  • lack of space if you use css floating attributes in some classes. The combination of 100% width and floats usually doesn't work well.
  • some kind of relative / absolute positioning

Try to find out which styles are "cascaded" to the problematic element.

Personally, I usually start with gettingit to work in firefox, because this browser is more compliant to the .css standards. And with the webdeveloper  extension one can try to figure out which styles apply.

Thanks Peter.

After checking the skin object, the container css and the skin css, I don't see any absolute positioning going on.

I'm still stumped.

The overspill is crossing across container boundries as well as content pane boundries.

Any other ideas?  I just want to make sure the skin object will stay within it's own container.
