first off i'm a DNN lover. But how come we can't update the documentation whever some new skin setting is added? The last time it was updated was in 2005!!!

Such as the useDropDownList setting in the Search token. How long does it take to add it into the documentation? And if you can't add it because Shaun Walker has them locked up and encrypted in his personal laptop than please post it on a forum somewhere... anywhere!

The more you share the more we care! And the more we can do with this framework.

Cheers,

Carlos

Carlos,

This is a known issue and we are attempting to address it.  There is a project that is just getting underway which will provide access to various pieces of documentation and which will provide more access to keeping the documentation up to date.

Yeah!  How come you can't update the documentation!

You did say "we" which means you're now in charge of this.  FWIW, the lovely Ms. Young, truly a DNNAngel, does a fantastic job of keeping updated documentation available.  In the Marketplace.

I agree.  Although I'm not a developer anymore, in my former life, documentation was really considered just as important as the actual code.  Both Code and documentation would actually happen at the same time based off of the software specification.  I know that model doesn't seem to jive as nicely with DotNetNuke because of screen shots and stuff, but I do think that if the Corp could make a good concerted effort to at least "touch" the documentation before each release, everyone would be a lot better off.

Jeff - do you have a link to where on the marketplace the Corp is selling the documentation?  Is it official?  I know the corp is trying to make money but I would be super surprised if they are actually charging for documentation.  I've seen plenty of other open source apps such as Joomla which have _MUCH_ better documentation than DotNetNuke and it is free.
