Hi All.

I'm looking for a method to display a urgent message, maybe with an popup, when a user logs in.
The dream would be to have a checkbox "Don't show this message again".

I would like to use this "messagebox" instead of an announcment module, to be sure that the users are really recognizing this particular news.

Any solution? Idea?

Thanks

Kai

You may want to set the home page so when a user logs in they are sent to that page.  Then install and configure the alearts module from Onyaktech: http://www.onyaktech.com/  Here is a link directly to the module information: http://www.onyaktech.com/Products/BrowseAllOnyakTechProducts/tabid/373/ProductID/88/List/1/Default.aspx?SortField=UnitCost,ProductName

Thanks for your reply, Robert. It looks good, but i'm setting up an DNN-Site for a non-profit-society, and therefore i would prefer a free solution.

My first idea was to set this up with a splash page, but does it comes up when starting the web or when logging in? It should come up only when logged on. And it should have the mentioned checkbox ("please not again"), but this is not a must.

Any additional hints?

Not off the top of my head, but I will think on it a bit more.

While this isn't exactly what you're looking for, it might be an acceptable compromise:

Create a page in your site of Important News which is only visible to registered users.  Add those "pop-up" notice items to that page.

From Admin, User Accounts, User Settings, specify that page as the Redirect after Login page.

The problem with "pop-ups" in your scenario is that if the pop-up always displays, then users will begin to ignore it.  Allowing user's to check "please not again" means you can't relay any new information to folks who chose to uncheck the box.
