Is there a way to maintain (or rewrite) the Tracking URL of a document when you update that document?

We often have the need to update, upload and change the actual document file, while keeping the document title intact. The problem (as many of you probably already know) is that whenever we do this, the Tracking URL is automatically replaced with a new URL. Thus all of the previous tracking data (total clicks, user/date/time, etc.) gets reset back to zero with no user tracking information anymore.

Is there a way to overcome this somehow? It doesn't make sense that a document cannot be updated without losing all of the tracking data.

Any assistance/advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

This is done as a factor of how the core URL control works within the DNN framework.

You MIGHT be able to get around it by doing the update as a re-upload of the file, with the SAME name via FILE Manager.  That will keep the file id static, and thus all tracking should still be valid.
