I have stopped working on this for right now. Web deployment project will be officially released next week so I am waiting for this before I spend more time on this.

Interesting information on the web references….  IS it possible to use the vb file from the non web application and use this for you web service?  Isn’t there an executable you can run to generate the web reference file as well?  Keep us posted this will be good information to know

Bert

I've created a DNN4 moudle which accessing to a web service, I use generated web service proxy class, and put in created module fold in app_code, it works without any problem. I also changed namespace in proxy class.

Hi, I created a web service in DNN by creating a .cs file in the App_Code folder and a corresponding .asmx file in the root folder of my DNN app.  I'll call it wsOne.  This is working correctly and I am able to call  wsOne from a client application.  Now, I am trying to consume a web service wsTwo located on the web server from within wsOne.  I right clicked on the DNN root folder and selected add web reference.  I typed in the URL of wsTwo  and added it as a web reference.  I went back to use it in wsOne and get the error "wsTwo is a Namespace but is used as a type'. I tried adding 'using wsTwo;' in wsOne and got an error on the method in wsTwo and it asks me if I am missing an assembly.

Is there a special way to reference a web service in DNN 4.0 or is it because I am trying to reference it from a web service that I created in DNN 4.0?

I to am trying to consume a web service in a module in DNN 4.X. I am very confused how to make this work and have the reference apply to my module and not to the website in VS 2005.  Does anyone have any more specific examples / instruction on doing this?

I use the option to create an assembly name for each folder so after I run the project I would have two dll’s for each module

DesktopModules.Widget.dll
App_SubCode_Widget.dll

I use the exactly the same options as you chose, but do you know why it merges my app_code into one app_code.dll, even i have a subdirectly there called Widgets? ALl other folders are compiled into sperated dlls.

Thanks
Mike
