hi

i have installed Dnn for first time and iam not sure weather iam doing somthing wrong or its the nature of dotnetnuke

tha problam is my site goes out of memory and becomes unavailable as soon as i get bit of traffic . presuming its the database problem i have brought new server with SQL 2005 installed on and moved the database on new server now i have two dedicated servers one for application and one for database dipite i have distributed the load my site still goes out of memory then i decieded to upgreade my server to higher version so that my site wont go unavailabe it works fine up to an extent but as soon as my site reachs peak hours  memory reaches high and system goes unvailabe (i have to restart the server)

its costing me more then £100 a month on dedicated servers just for one site

by the way my site traffic is like 1500 hits a day (according to google analytics)

any thoughts????

You'll need to describe your problem a lot better, but this isn't normal.  I have a DNN site that gets about 6,000 hits a day on a six year old 933 MHZ system with 1 GB of RAM with no memory issues.  The same server also runs a mail server and about three dozen other sites.  SQL is on a separate server.

Error messages, log entries, server specs, etc. would help.

Jeff

how much RAM does your Server have? You might need to install 4GB, if database and web server share a machine.

I have 2 dedicated servers one for database and one for application and both are running on 2 GB Ram out of which database server is fine but application server ram memory is occupied up 1.5 /1.7 i have two 2 installations running on the server

the error i get is

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

do i need a better server if i add extra portals on to those servers

can it handle traffic like 3000 to 5000 clicks

We had similar issues with sql server pegged at 100%. We found the problem in the event log buffer and the scheduler job. We disabled the event log buffer in host settings and turned off the scheduler job and it immediately cleared up our problem. We have not delved deeper yet to determine what caused the conflict in the scheduler but we handle over a million page views a month with 16-20k unique visitors a day with no problems now.
