Update:

I downloaded DNN Community 05.01.00 (773) and using VWD express 2008, I created a simple module with button and label - nothing else. It builds fine. After logging in as host, I go to module definitions and select Import Module Definition. The module .ascx shows up in the list of controls. When I select the control and click on Import Control, an error appears stating 'Error Importing Selected Control'. I tried to import several times and it fails each time but nothing shows up in the event viewer. I cleared the event viewer log and tried it again just to be sure I wasn't missing the error but there are no errors logged.

I cut the exact code and put it into a DNN 4.9.4 version and it all works as expected. The import installs fine and the module works. I'm stumped on this.

Just for info,  I am on a MS Vista Home Premium, SQL Xpress 2008, VWD Xpress 2008 system.
