Hello,

I have just upgraded the blog module from 3.4 to 3.5 (on a dnn 4.8.4 site); the module seems to work fine on the main site (portal 0), with SEO and the rest of it. However, the 'read more' link (or the title link) does not work on the blog module used on another parent portal of the same dnn installation. The browser mumbles for a few seconds then says: "Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. bla bla.. it is probably a server configuration issue."

Recomputing the permalinks did not help.
I also tried to create a new entry, just in case, but the result is the same on that entry as well.

Can you please let me know what I should do, please?

Franco

Hi Franco,

your issue looks very similar to one we faced some days ago, with a 3rd party conflicting with the core Blog module and sending unwanted 302 redirects. Could you please check if the issue reproduces on a page where the only blog module is hosted? Also, posting the affected URL may help in finding who's the culprit.

Best regards,
Dario Rosdsa

Hi Dario,

if the issue is due to conflict with other modules then it must be something hidden because there is no other module on the page; I removed anyway other modules, just in case. The page with the blog is here: http://www.paivi.name/Kielenpäällä.aspx

By the way, the 'too many redirects' error is explicit with Firefox, IE just looks to loop forever.

Thanks,

Franco

Hi Franco,

are you using friendly URLs or a 3rd party module to handle human-friendly URLs? Could you check if the issue persist after turning them off?

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

I switched off friendly url to test it, but there is no change, except for ugly urls on the rest of the site.

Somebody suggested me this blog: http://www.bestwebsites.co.nz/dotnetnuke/solving-the-dotnetnuke-redirect-loop/

The easy fixes do not apply to me, it remains the complex Ajax stuff, which I have not attempted yet. I find it strange, though, that it affects only the upgraded blog module and only for one of the 2 portals. Is this version using Ajax?

I am getting kind of desperate, any idea?

Thanks,

Franco
