What is the nature of the bug with 4.00.01? I produce my own XML file for the news feed but it doesn't look like it works anymore. Can someone describe the bug or tell me where I can find information about it?

I don't know if I'd say there was a bug, but unless you are generating a valid RSSv2.0 format newsfeed, the module may not download, and present your custom newsfeed.  I could tell you more, if you posted a sample of your custom newsfeed.

Not sure that my newsfeed is correct. I searched the term RSS v2 and I found an example.

http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/rss/examples/rss2sample.xml

I used this URL as the example and the news feed module still displays nothing. Maybe my installation is broken. Is there a good newsfeed URL I can use to test my news feed module?

When I view that news feed source, it looks to have some extraneous control characters embedded in it.  I don't have access to my test machine, so I can't confirm whether this is the reason for it failing for you or not.  I put the feed into my Xselerator xml/xsl editor, and used it's tidy function then saved it out to new xml file.  This file does not show any extra chars, so I'm not sure what's going on with the example feed from a source that should be reliable.    As a rule, I try to use RSSv2.0 feeds from USAToday, Rueters News, or MSDN, which may include some extra namespaces, but they work. I'll know more after I can test using my test machine.

I did a test with the following URL from the USA Today site:

http://rssfeeds.usatoday.com/usatoday-NewsTopStories

Still the same result. I update or add the feed, it doesn't make a difference, nothing is displayed. I get the following error when I go back to view the feed in the "Edit Newsfeeds" I get the same error " FileID=114"
