Hi,

Am upgrading a 4.5.5 site to 4.9. on a hosted environment.

The upgrade has gone fine and I am able to see the site. I can't log into the site now. What should I do?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

did you copy the machine keys into the new web.config before upgrading?  If not, I think simply putting them in there now may solve your problem.

Barry,

Thanks for the help. The site is working this morning without me making any changes - very strange. I made a mistake with the config file when I upgraded. This was later corrected, but the problem persisted. It seems that ASP.NET must hold on to some settings even when the config file is changed. I have found this before.

Many thanks for your support.

Ian.

I have had the same problem while moving the site from one host provider to another on a shared server (including a version upgrade that GoDaddy provided). Can you be more specific with the recommended fix?

An additional symptom I have is that although I see all images in the proper directories, they do not appear on my site. The other files (links, downloads, etc) all seem to be found fine. One last thing, the REGISTER screen is okay, but the LOGIN screen displays this error with an empty module titled SKIN:

Module Load Warning
One or more of the modules on this page did not load. This may be temporary. Please refresh the page (click F5 in most browsers). If the problem persists, please let the Site Administrator know.

I appreciate any help you may provide. Thanks!
