Hi Every one

I posted a thread a week ago with subject "Created New Portal Administrator can not login"(at 12/05/2008 4:16PM). No body answered this question. This thread was removed from public by moderator. Now I post this question again with more detailed information:

Operating System:  Windows 2003, Database: MS SQL 2005, Install DotNetNuke version: 04.09.00, Install type: Typical. installation

I did a Dnn 4.9.0. clean installation. Everything OK for host super user and default portal admin login which created following installation wizard. When I login as a host super user, I add new portal and it's security information(User name and Password etc.). After I press create portal, the result page shows the 403 visit forbidden. I also cannot login with created new portal administration username and password. the error shows "Login Failed, remember that Passwords are case sensitive" Usually when I create the username and password I created these on notebook first and then copy and paste to avoid typing errors. I try to create another portal, still the same situation. Actually I already set up the fold permissions before I install Dnn 4.9.0. Previously I worked with Dnn 4.8 without creating new portal problems. I am not sure what's the problems it might happen.

I checked the new portal fold and found that the portal creation only created the template files in fold portalNumber/ and fold portalNumber/Templates/Default.page.template, but no Cache fold created(normally should creat Cache fold and relevant files in this fold). I check the PortalController.CreatePortal method, but didn't find the relevant method for creating Cache fold. I am not sure where the method is. Is there any one who can answer this question. I don't hope this question imply a bug in DotNetNuke 04.09.00, I also don't like this question leaves difficulties for DotNetNuke experts.

Thanks a lot

What did you use for a "PortalAlias" when you created the portal? It sounds to me like you added a parent portal and haven't setup IIS properly for the new website.

Thanks Chris Hammond

I use Child for a "PortaAlias" and input the child PortalName http://localhost/ParentPortalName/ChildPortalName. If I create parent portal, Dnn will create another _Default fold and I have to set up IIS for the new website. After I created the child portal, Dnn not only created a child alias(child portal name) fold under the root fold and a file Default.aspx in this fold but also Dnn created the PortalNumber under the Portals fold. The problems are that Dnn didn't creat the Cache fold under the PortalNumber fold, only copy the template graphic files under this PortalNumber fold and a "Templates" fold with a file Default.page.template in it. I also cannot login the child portal administrator after I created it. The detailed description in my post. Hope hear you soon again.

Thanks again
