Hi all,

I have installed the forum module version 4.4.3 and in general it seems to work fine ... thumbs up for the developers :-)

I am however facing a mysterious issue ... The forum contains all public non-modurated groups and in general users can start new threads etc ... There are however 2 users who always get a dump when trying to start a new thread ... they can however reply to existing threads ...  I created a new test account and let them try to create a thread and that worked without any issues ... so there is some kind of issue with their account.

I compared the 'forum_users' table but couldn't see any differences between the working and non-working accounts ...

Here is an extract of the dump:

Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.at DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.PostEdit.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)--- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Anybody any suggestions ?

Thanks,

Steven

I think the suggestion is posted several  times in this forum.  It could happend the expected users geting a timeout before they post a new thread.  This is a known issue in 4.4.3 and would solved in next release.

To prevent this issue you can setting the timout higher for IIS.  To solve the issue for those users, the have to subscript to all forums in my settings.

Hi Matthias,

Thanks for your fast response ...

I am not sure I follow your thinking ... Why would the user logging in with a different account be able to create a new thread and not having the same time out issues ?  The user is experiencing the issue every time they want to create a new thread ... and I suppose a time out would occure as well when they would reply to a thread ...

I don't understand how subscription would change anything ... can you please elaborate a bit more ?

Thanks,

Steven

FYI - We found the originating source of the issue ...

Users start having dumps when they click on the "New Thread" button from the moment they activated the functionality to subscribe for email notifications in a previously created thread ( so they track the forum threads ) ...

Regards,

Steven
