Hi All,

Got a client that wants to have a SPANISH and ENGLISH site ... we have built a couple of custom modules for them already that replace the generic HTML module with one that handles localised versions of dynamic text - and also does some translation help etc.

We also have a revised Module title skin object that also handles localisation ... though a little klunky.

What I am now looking at is how to localise the MENUS - anyone got any thought's on this - custom menu providers etc

Hi Westa

Apollo Software have modules that should help you.  Page localization should do what you need though I've not used it myself.

DotNetNuke overall does a half-baked job for what I would consider multi-locale websites, both the core and how many 3rd party modules work. Something I have been needing a bit as an Australian with a US company providing services in the UK from where I am living in Poland.

The only way I have felt I've found a true multi-locale solution where I can comfortable use whatever modules I like and not have issues (which I had with e-commerce and currencies within DNN) was to create a separate Portal for each locale and use a manual flag/language selector for people to switch between them.

I had looked at Apollo until I realised the e-commerce solution I have (Catalook) can't really handle multi-currency, ie. accept payment in different currencies as it forces a single base currency to be used (otherwise it is good for multi-locale).

 I found this; http://www.adequation-dotnetnuke.com/en/Modules/Localization-Extensions/Overview.aspx

But I didn't try it myself yet...

Thanks for linking to our extensios.

Wes, you should definitaly take a look at our extensions that enable a simple approach for ML portals. They come with full source code if you want to see how we did implement things.

there are free page localization modules from Effority (EALO, see Forge Icon above and www.codeplex.com/EALO) and Locopon (dnn.tiendaboliviana.com) as well as a cheap one from www.apollo-software.nl (ErikVB). There are ML modules from Apollo (free and commercial), Portalfabrik.Net (including free www.codeplex.com/MagicContent), Locopon and EALO, as well as other developers.
