Hi Jody,

I just want to be clear on this, are you saying after upgrade (from which version?) that the location/category are populated for a recurring event, but not populated for a non-recurring event?

Thanks
Roger

4.0.0.2 -> Recurring events (not the master - child records) do not populate the location / category (table values show null)

RC1 build -> it crashes when it sees the null for a recurring child record from the previous 4.0.0.2 entries.  RC1 - (see previous post) consequent reviewing the sql table does show that the proper location and category are populated.  However, to do so - you have to drop the series - recreate.  Merely editing an existing entry in the 4.0.0.2 version with RC1 - will not fix the problem.

Hope that is a little clearer.

BTW I have it narrowed down to one scenario in particular.

Occurs when using Weekly as the repeating date.

For instance have an event that starts Thur, June 11, 2009 and ends Aug 13, 2009.  When I click on recurring and select weekly - and select thursday and save (even with a new master entry created in RC1) - it immeditatedly errors out.  Records are properly created in the database.  Edit the master (using the url post trick) - and change it to every 7 days - works fine....

That should narrow it down a tad and perhaps the other stuff I posted may not be as relevant - just the observations I made.

Hi Jody,

OK, I tracked it down. It's due to some functionality I added last week around templating of some text in the Month/Wekk/List/Day views, and would occur on many recurring events. I've posted the bug fix, and hopefully Ernst Peter can release a new 4.1.1 version very soon.

Thank you for your time in helping to debug the problem.

Just for your information on categories and locations. In version 4.1.x the Category and Location should be 'null' in the table when no category/location is set. This is different to previous versions where it was often set to '0'. This is change is to ensure referential integrity. We link the value in the Events table to the index of the Category/Location table. 0 does not appear in those tables, so cannot be linked, whereas null does not need to be linked.

Cheers
Roger
