I installed DNN5 (using the Install download) in two different locations and in both cases the tab order doesn't make sense. Instead of going from field to field (e.g., User Name to First Name), it goes from field to help icon to field to help icon, etc. My DNN4 installations work fine. Has anyone else seen this behvior? Could it be a bug? Is there an easy way to remedy it?

Thanks!

Ken

Not sure what you mean, you will probably have to post a screenshot.

This behavior is controlled via a tabindex attribute on the input, and can be disabled with a value of -1.  However, I do not recall this changing between 4.9.x and 5.0 -- my recollection is that I've always had to double-tab across the help icons.

You might suggest rectification via a work item at support.dotnetnuke.com, but there may be accessibility issues here that preclude rectification.

Hi Ken:

It sounds like you are adding a user account, placing your cursor in the UserName field, tabbing to get to the FirstName field and finding you are landing on that help icon.  I can observe this using DNN 5 but believe that this is correct.  What you would prefer is not to have the help icon receive focus from tabbing, but only the input fields, which makes sense, especially if you are adding several users.  Brandon has accurately explained the fix and I would agree that the best thing to do is create a ticket using DNN's support.  There may be a precedence set on how the keyboard tabbing is setup for the entire project, but it certainly cannot hurt to ask!

Thanks for the response. I believe the tabindex idea is right on. The interesting thing about this page is that while the top help icons receive focus the last two (password & confirm password) do not. And, indeed they have the tabindex="-1"attribute while the others do not.

I compared the source of my 4.9 and 5.0 installations and the former has that attrubute for all of the help icons and the latter for just the last two.

The input was helpful, I think I will try placing a support ticket.

Ken
