I too am trying to install the FCKeditor provider to my DNN 4.0.2
. . . but here is the thing:  I am using the GoDaddy Economy Plan (US$3.99/mo.) for
my hosting. So, far, all three of my attempts using the Lee Sykes instructions have failed.

QUESTION:  Are you implying that FCKeditor definitely requires ASP.NET v2.0?  (My reason for asking is that the GoDaddy Economy Plan has only ASP, supposedly, and not ASP.NET v1.1 or v2.0)

Thank you--I very much need to get the editor up and running soon.

Well, you really made me go confused.

You said your hosting does not support asp.net 1.x or 2.x, but you say you are using DNN 4.0.2 and that made me go confused because DNN 4.0.2 needs asp.net 2.x

I you have DNN 4.0.2 running on your hosting plan, then you an be sure you have asp.net 2.x

The FCKEditor provider works on DNN 3.x and 4x, but the same as DNN, it needs asp.net 1x or 2x

Maybe you are talking about something different, so please clarify

Hello,

I'm sorry to confuse you . . . but I'm afraid it is true.

See https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/shared.asp?isc=&prog_id=GoDaddy&ppDomain=&ci=260  and then click "comparison chart." You will see that their Basic Hosting plan offers plain ASP, not ASP.NET v1.1 or 2.0, and yes, I was able to run DNN 4.0.2 and create a functioning web site on the plain ASP of the Basic plan, no problem. I doubted this myself but I learned that DNN 4.0.2, while written for v2.x, did indeeed run with just ASP.

Now, as for the FCKeditor Provider not running on plain ASP, that may be correct.

However, I have recently upgraded to the Deluxe Hosting plan and now definitely have ASP.NETv2.0--because an option to select either 1.1 or 2.0 appears only in the Deluxe plan, not in the Basic plan.

The bad news is that the FCKeditor Provider still does not appear to work for me even in 2.0. I have tried three times, carefully, but am running out of ideas on how to make the default editor go away and have FCK as the primary editor.

Thank you for your patience, and feel free to offer any other ideas.

-John W.

Don't worry. Just for your info, DNN cannot run using only simple asp. I can bet the basic plan has asp.net included.

About FCKEditor. have you checked the .dll files?

I know, it defies logic that DNN would run with only ASP--but that doesn't even matter now, since I decided to upgrade to 2.0

As for checking the two .dll files, yes, those went in to the bin directory here:  (root). . . /heavehomovie/portals/Website/bin

I assume this is the correct /bin . . . because I have another /bin at the level directly above /portals.

Any other ideas?

Thank you,

-John
