Hi folks,

I just installed version 03.02.00 on my DNN 3.2.2 Website (Hoster DomainBox with MS SQL Server and .NET Framework 1.1.4322.2300) and added the Module to a test tab. I created a Blog called "test" and made an entry to it.

Now I want to edit this entry and clicked on "Edit Entry" on the Entry Page. Gives out an Runtime Error.

My links looks like Default.aspx?tabid=86&ctl=Edit_Entry&mid=419&EntryID=1.

How can I turn custom errors on to specify what error occurs? Can anyone help me with this?

Regards,
Georg

Log in as host and check under admin / log viewer.  The error should be listed in there.

Hi, it's:

Message: System.Exception: Unhandled Error: ---> DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Error: Edit blog entry is currently unavailable. ---> DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Error: Edit blog entry is currently unavailable. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "D:\vhosts\arcadesign.de\httpdocs\dnn32\Portals\1\Blog\Files\1\2" is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String str) at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectory(String fullPath, String path) at System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(String path) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.File.FileController.getEntryDir(String pModulPath, EntryInfo pEntry) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.File.FileController.getFileList(String pModulPath, EntryInfo pEntry) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.EditEntry.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.ProcessModuleLoadException(String FriendlyMessage, PortalModuleBase ctrlModule, Exception exc, Boolean DisplayErrorMessage) at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.ProcessModuleLoadException(PortalModuleBase ctrlModule, Exception exc) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.EditEntry.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.ProcessPageLoadException(Exception exc, String URL) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.Page_Error(Object Source, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.OnError(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Page.HandleError(Exception e) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) at System.Web.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication+IExecutionStep.Execute() at System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I suggest that the Blog Module doesn't have the rights to write in the Portals/1/Blog/ dir, because it doesn't exist at all. Since I'm on a hosting environment I cannot change the the directory permissions from /dnn32/. DNN runs on a virual directory called "cube". My directories look like arcadesign.de/cube/Portals/1 instead of arcadesign.de/dnn32/Portals/1. Could this be an issue?

Georg

I think that's it exactly.  There is definatly a permissions problem of some kind.  I'm not sure really on how you would fix it though other than moving DNN up a directory so that the paths would look like arcadesign.de/Portals/1.

That really souldn't be a problem unless you are using someone like goDaddy or you have other applications under the root of your domain and need DNN to run in a seperate space.

That's exactly the thing. I cannot move DNN to root because my hoster doesn't allow the ASP.NET User Account in the root directory.

I have to create a virtual directory like "root/cube" pointing to the dnn installation on "root/dnn32" and give the ASP.NET User Account the permissions for that.
