Hi everyone,

Trying to install DNN and having an issue with the installation scripts. I've created the database manually, as well as a user (dnn_user) and assigned the user as the owner of the database in Microsoft SQL manager. All tests pass during the "Test my connection" step of the Install wizard. However, instead of getting the Step 1 of x... success! messages, I get the following:

Installing Database - Version 4.4.0...undefined...Success

undefined...FAILURE 400 - Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool.  This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.

Any help would be appreciated... Thanks folks. Probably missing something obvious - I'm used to MySQL and a Linux environment, just learning Microsoft SQL so I may not have set up the permissions correctly.

Thanks in advance.

this sounds like missing permissions. Please make sure, the virtual user ("Network service" by default) has access to all files and the database user has fulll permission on the database.

The Network Service user does have full permissions, and the database user does as well. Is there a quick way to test to see if the permissions are OK? The "Test database connection" is ok -- comes back all green checkmarks. I agree, this sounds like a permissions issue though, but unable to see where.

Looks like one table was generated by the install script, dnn_userVersion, but there are no rows in it.

Thanks...

if you need to restart, make sure to recreate a blank database to start with!

Thanks for your help. We got it installed. A mod can mark this thread closed (assuming that's what is done resolved questions).

I can't remember exactly what I did but this time around, I set up the user account in MSSQL before creating the database. It was, of course, permissions... thanks.
