Being a noob to DNN I have searched the forum for info on this but unfortunately I found nothing.

Here's the situation;

My 4.3.x DNN site has been running OK for many months now. For some reason I can no longer log into the site using any of the accounts. I am 100% of the passwords but unf. the site wont accept them.

After searching for a solution I found out that you can register a new user and copy the password in the SQL db. Te be able to register a new user I have to change a setting also in the SQL db to have my site accept new registrations.

This is the 2nd thing that I find strange; when I log into the SQL db using the SQLexpress man. console I don't see any DNN tables. I see the dotnetnuke DB and it's users. I can even change/edit the users but strangely I don't see any table structure.

Can anybody please shed some ligh on this?

probably something strange happened to your web.config.

its hard to say what is going on without seeing whats going on, you might need to hire an expert to help you out here.

I will look into the web.config.

However, the webserver that it runs on can only be accessed by me and I didn't touch the machine for many weeks.

So I am pretty sure this problem isn't the result of changes in the system.

if the connection string in your web.config file includes "database.mdf", you are using file based access and need to attach to the database within management studio. please read this article, before trying this.
