I updated my dnn site to 5.0.1 from 4.5.5 and experienced no problems except that whenever i try to expand an asp:treeview that uses PopulateOnDemand, nothing happens and the event logger shows the following 2 exceptions:

  • DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.ArgumentException: Invalid JSON primitive: . at System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptObjectDeserializer.DeserializePrimitiveObject() at System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptObjectDeserializer.DeserializeInternal(Int32 depth)
  • System.Exception: Unhandled Error: ---> System.ApplicationException: Response.Redirect cannot be called in a Page callback. at System.Web.HttpResponse.Redirect(String url, Boolean endResponse) at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.ProcessPageLoadException(Exception exc, String URL) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.OnError(EventArgs e)

Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

UPDATE:
It appears that the issue only happens when I have a DNN Menu on the page, if there is no DNN Menu on the top of the page the TreeView works just fine. If anyone has any info on how I can resolve this please let me know.

Hi,

I'm getting the same problem with DNN 5.0.1 when the user enters their details to login.

I recall fixing a similar problem in DNN 5.0.0 by ensuring the DNN folder under IIS has the correct user permissions for the IIS NT account.

Doesn't seem to work now though. Strange thing is the site was working fine for a couple of days after fixing another problem by making changes to web.config. No other changes and then this problem appears, which is strange.

WARNING: Stay away from DNN 5 !!!

Regards

Peter

I have the exact same problem with a custom module that uses the AJAX Toolkit Rating control.  I think it has something to do with the control using an ASP.NET Callback.
