Hello everyone,

I'm novice in DNN and i want to use it to create a small web site just to see how it work.

I am not used to programing with VB and apparently DNN works only with VB :s

Can I use another language such as C#?

If you just want to create a web site, you don't need to program in any language, just download and install the "Install" version of DotNetNuke and you can create a web site.  The only time you would need to write some code would be if you need to (or want to) write a custom DotNetNuke module for use in a DotNetNuke web site, or for some reason, wanted to modify the core code or a core module.

The core framework is indeed written in VB.NET, however, you may write your custom modules in any language, VB.NET, C# or any CLR supported language.

DNN framework is written in VB, but modules can be written in any .Net language. A couple of core modules are written in C# and there are templates available for creating modules in VB 2005/2008 for VB and C#.

I have already downloaded  install, upgrade and Source and used StartKit.vsi.

you need source version only, if you want to look at the framework code - or modify it, which is not best practice ;)

For a new install, I prefer Install (or Source) version. unzip to a web server directory, create IIS web site pointing to it (or website subfolder of source), grant full permission to ASP.Net account ("Network Service" by default). create a blank database and a user account with dbowner permission for it.

Now browse to your site and the install wizard will be lauched.

more detailed instructions can be found at www.mitchelsellers.com.
