Hi Guys,

I am using DNN 4.8 on a server which has a public IP. I already have the main portal and a child portal on the DNN instance running. So for eg i have the main portal http://SOMELIVEIP/InstanceName and the childportal as http://SOMELIVEIP/InstanceName/ChildPortalName. Now i want to give the child portal a domain name like this, www.mysite.com. Firstly is this possible, if yes what steps i need to do in IIS and relating to hosting. Any help in this would really help.

Thanks in advance.

Mrunal

please notice, that you cannot assign a child portal a domain name. you can assign it to the parent portal and use the same subfolder in the domain. however if the relative path between local and domain name differ, you will encounter issues with image and file paths in rich text content.

Sebastian,

Are you sure about this?  I have an installation of DotNetNuke that has several child portals.  Some of them have their own domain names.  This is done using portal aliases in the database for each site, AND by configuring IIS to accept those domain names and direct them to DotNetNuke.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the reply. Joe, if you are sure about this, can you tell me what are the steps to put a child portal on a domain name?

Thanks,

Mrunal
