Ok so I set all my settings to the ones you provided. The point generates in the interface page, but not the actual map.

I have taken screen shots of all my settings as they are right now:

OK Chris, I think I've nailed it. Thanks for sending me the screenshots, it helped me to set up a map to repro the problem. I got exactly the same behaviour as you initially and amazingly the solution I found was to set the zoom level for your data point to zero. Any other value results in the data point not being rendered.

I don't understand this either as I went back to my own map and reset the zoom points to be 15 and they still rendered. The only difference is that my map data comes from a custom query, but it's in the same format as the Map_Points table so there should be no difference in the handlers.

Another thread on the Map forum here hints at why zoom doesn't work but although I've taken a cursory look at the source code I agree with mcpuddin in that there's no specific code dealing with zoom levels. Why then, setting a level other than zero in your case should break the point rendering I'm not sure. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to debug this one down to a specific code line as I did with Custom Query Connection String problem so I'll update the Bug Entry that Rodney entered and hope that the Map Module Team can find and fix the problem for us!  Kevin Schreiner doesn't seem to be too active here on the forum recently so I'm assuming he's busy on other things right now - hopefully he'll have some time to look at the bugs/threads soon..

So, for now I would suggest you set both Zoom values to zero and let me know if this has fixed the problem. I'll update the bug entry once I know if it's worked for you!

Thanks for all the help. Yes this fixed it entirely. I really appreciate you taking the time out to work on it.

My pleasure Chris, glad I could help! Helping other people helps me to learn the quirks of the module as well, so we all benefit

Thanks for letting me know that it's fixed as well, I'll update the bug I mentioned over the weekend so that hopefully it'll get fixed with the next update (whenever the project team can find the time).

Regards,
Sean
