For sure, for sure you have a web.config file in the directory? The only time I've ever seen that error is when I mistakenly blew away the web.config file.

Good day Sir Mike,

Thank you for the response. I've checked the directory and the web.config file is there. When I was going through the setup process I customized the connection string in order to direct the installation to the blank database that I have created. Here's the conncetion string that I subbed with the text from the web.config.

Data Source=PORTAL\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=portaldb;User Id=portaldbadmin;Password=admin1234;

Do you think the error could have been caused by a faulty IIS installation?? It seems as though everytime I navigate  towards the Default Web Site tab, to look at the virtual directories that have been set, it gives me an error "The system cannot find path specified".
