I have a module that I customized that worked fine under 4.8.4.  Now we've installed 5.0.1 and everything is working except for this module.  When you link to the page it's on, even when you are logged on as host, nothing shows in the middle column, not even the 'edit' button.

So I thought I'd just re-add the module to the page.

then it shows the error:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: D:\Inetpub\Metanexus\Magazine\DesktopModules\Admin\Tabs\ManageTabs.ascx.vb(452): error BC30456: 'AddModuleMessage' is not a member of 'skin'. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: D:\Inetpub\Metanexus\Magazine\DesktopModules\Admin\Tabs\ManageTabs.ascx.vb(452): error BC30456: 'AddModuleMessage' is not a member of 'skin'.at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath)at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile)at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile)at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath)at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath)at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlUtilites.LoadControl[T](TemplateControl containerControl, String ControlSrc)at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleHost.LoadModuleControl()--- End of inner exception stack trace ---

So I can't edit my pages.

What should I do?

Thanks,

please note, that admin modules have changed position and admin modules' business layer is not treated to be a public API with maintained backwards copatibility.

Sebastian,

Thank you for your reply.  I'm not sure what you are saying, I log in to my admin like I did prior to the upgrade and it looks the same.  Where can I find documentation on what the changes are?  I just downloaded the 5.x documentation and it 's still the same as the old documentation.

So are you saying that the links at the top of each pane should no longer work?

Is there a reason one of my modules would just 'disappear' off a template page when I upgrade from 4.8.4 to 5.0.1?

If you could point me in the dirction of some documentation or provide guidance, that would be great.

Thank you.

 did you contact the developer, who created the 3rd party module, which has problems?

So there are two problems.  I will contact the source of the module.  But it sure seems odd that I can't see it on the page.

The second issue I have is that I cannot add a page to my site.  I get:

Error: is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: D:\Inetpub\Metanexus\Magazine\DesktopModules\Admin\Tabs\ManageTabs.ascx.vb(452): error BC30456: 'AddModuleMessage' is not a member of 'skin'. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: D:\Inetpub\Metanexus\Magazine\DesktopModules\Admin\Tabs\ManageTabs.ascx.vb(452): error BC30456: 'AddModuleMessage' is not a member of 'skin'. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlUtilites.LoadControl[T](TemplateControl containerControl, String ControlSrc) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleHost.LoadModuleControl() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Does anyone have any input on this?
