I did this tonight and found it easy/useful so I thought I'd share it.  I had a request to make a What's New module that shows the last 10 documents with direct links to those documents.  I just wrote a query in the Reports module and that is my What's New module.  Here's the SQL code:

SELECT     top (10) CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),grmRepositoryObjects.CreatedDate, 110) AS 'Date Created', '<a href="/Portals/16/Repository/'+grmRepositoryObjects.FileName+'">'+grmRepositoryObjects.Name+'</a>' as Document, grmRepositoryObjects.FileSize as Size
FROM         grmRepositoryObjects INNER JOIN
                      Modules ON grmRepositoryObjects.ModuleID = Modules.ModuleID
WHERE     (Modules.PortalID = 16)
ORDER BY CONVERT(VARCHAR(8),grmRepositoryObjects.CreatedDate, 112) DESC,grmRepositoryObjects.Name

It makes a list with the columns:  Date Created, Document, Size

Document is a clckable link directly to the file.

Glad that works for you ... but I think you can accomplish the same thing with the Dashboard companion module. Use a Repository Dashboard, set it's mode to 'Latest Uploads', and then set the DOWNLOAD setting on the [FILE] token to true in the .xml file.  The advantage to using the Dashboard is that the download clicks will be counted, whereas using the Report method will not count the downloads.

Steve, I had never looked at that.  Thank you for letting me know.  I'll check it out.
