I have created a custom module for a DNN site. I want to be able to package it on my development machine for installation on the production server without source code. The development site is configured as a Web Site project (WSP).

How do I create the PA package? I can't seem to find any information on this.

develop on localhost and in Host :: module definition, if you enter definition of your module you will find "create package" link at the bottom of the settings page.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the reply. I found that functionality in the manage modules section. However, it packages the module as with the code. I want to compile the module to DLLs, and package them, to avoid distributing the code.

Since I wrote this post, I found some information on how to do this at :http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/111/threadid/40609/scope/posts/Default.aspx.

It would be good if a project template existed to create a WAP for a new module, using the model described in this article. I imagine the majority of developers will want to protect the IP of their modules.

if you don't want to include source, you need to create a WAP module (requires VS 2005 SP1 or later), which compiles code behind into a .dll file. This requires some changes in your project, Afaik there are several templates for WAP modules available as well.
