Oops! a couple more questions:

I see that 5.0.1 is close to release for production use.

Do you recommend waiting to upgrade to that version?

Where can I find an overview of the features and changes over 4.x?

I'd also like to know wether it's a good idea to upgrade to 5.0 or wait for it's release for production?

okay-  I'll admit I'm a relative newbiw to DNN- I like it and I can do alot of creative work with modules and containers, but the admin part is something I'm not entirely solid with.  I've been reading alot of tutorials, but none seem to answer my needs.  I have been able to download and install new skins and containers, why can't I figure out how to install a new version?

The issue is that I'mare running 4.08.00 and I'm attempting to upgrade to 4.9.3  but having some issues as the Installation wizard seems to be in a version I currently don't have.  I am hosted by GoDaddy.com  part of an associates domain.

1- I was able to download the upgrade .zip file :  Would I install through the Host account to the root directory, or does this need to be uploaded to goDaddy.com?  How do I accomplish that?

2 - where do I find the web.config  file?

3- the tutorial says how to download the upgrade, but not install - can this be added?

Thanks for your assistance.  I'm learning something new everyday on DNN!

  1. you need direct file access via hosting panel, DNN file manager is not sufficient for this task
  2. via hosting panel: in the root of the DNN installation
  3. to install unzip all files hierachically into DNN installation directory, overwriting existing files
