This is a great tutorial thanks.  Of course, I've never been fond of YAML...  :)

What I do is put an overflow:hidden on all my containers that way if content is too big the part that is too big just dissapears

That's not an ideal solution either.  Obviously, sizing the image correctly would be the best option, but I guess if it has to be too big then hiding the overflow at least doesn't break the total design layout.  This isn't a YAML or 960 Grid issue either, it affects all the layout grids I've tried and there is no proper solution that always works.

Sometimes a designer really does need to do some work...  :)

Thank you! :) But why you've never been fond of YAML? I think you're much more flexible compared to 960

More flexible, maybe, but more complicated, yes.  My personal opinion is that YAML adds too much flexibility that would rarely be used, and I'm a "less is more" kind of designer.  Part of it comes from hand coding when HTML was a new idea to expand on standard markup, part of it may be just what I'm used to.  I have nothing against YAML, I just prefer other options.

I'm also not of the opinion that a grid system is always the best option, but I know designers who won't use anything else.

Same here

I dont liek the complexity of the system too much, I prefer 960 because of the way it can be setupusing cs classes and easier and faster setup of a layout.

Im also releasing a tool soon that will make any kind of custom width custom margin custom nr of columns css grid based on the 960 grid. And after that you can create grid based layout. So a version 2 of my dnngridbuilder thats alleady downloadable on http://www.dnngrid960.com.
