Dear DotNetNuke Friend

We (DotNetNuke Usergroup Switzerland) just created a portal that helps you to create CSS based skins with the great CSS framework YAML.
http://yaml.dnn.ch

There is a free base skin available. A tutorial shows you step by step how you will create a clean CSS based XHTML Skin with YAML for your own project very quickly.

We also tried to give you an overview of the advantages and how you (and the whole DotNetNuke community) benefit when using YAML:

Why CSS & why YAML?

We tried all popular CSS-Frameworks and compared them. They have a great deal in common, but when you compare them, they differ particularly in details. We believe that (quote):

YAML has the best documentation and is the only CSS-Framework where you can choose between different layout types (elastic, liquid, fixed) and measurements (%, em und px). That gives you more flexibility with YAML compared to Blueprint CSS or YUI Grids.

nice tutorial, i really appreciate it. it helps me to understand how the framework works!

i also tested blueprint some weeks ago, but YAML is much more flexible to build websites.

how long does it take to convert a PSD-Layout to DotNetNuke?

Thanks for your feedback.

Naturally it depends how complex your psd layout is, but after a bit practise with YAML you'll be faster to convert a layout than before with tables, not only because YAML provides a flexible layout with all the important standard web page elements and cuntional stylesheets for correct display in all browsers --> you work with a top-down principle so mostly you just have do modify some CSS (like colors, fonts, paddings..). Particularly if you have to do some changes (like adding a new Pane) you're much faster with YAML.

Regards, Silvio
