How can I check whether GZip compression is enabled on my site? I've selected it in Host > Host Settings > Performance, but when I run Google's Page Speed, it still recommends me to activate it.

It being selected in my Host Settings somehow doesn't reassure me that it really is enabled.

Enabling compression in DNN will affect aspx files only, google will suggest to compress css and js files as well, which is currently not supported in DNN (but not a big problem IMHO, because these files are usually small and downloaded once only.

In fact, in matters in low bandwidth users. or when accessing from phone.

Using this page for example, Google Page Speed Indicates that 122Kb could be saved if css and js were gzip.

Using pokerdiy.com for example, some pages with a lot of modules and containers could save up to 198Kb!

For my site goeatout.com.my, it saved up to 120-160Kb.

Also, it would be glad that DNN JS could be compressed. It has a lot of comments inside that only developer will use it. There's no point to include it in a Install Package. Leave it in Source Package will do.

Thanks,
George

wow I totally forgot I posted this question once... when I saw my name next to the first post, I thought it was due to a forum bug. Still find it weird :-)

thanks for the replies

I do agree with George, this is not a trivial issue... also I'm not sure that all those files are downloaded only once, Pagespeed claims their cache expiration header is not set.

it's true that Pageblaster looks like an excellent excellent module though!
