I am modifying a custom module and would like to use the dotnetnuke fileextensions method to check against the stored allowable fileextensions.  I cannot find this method. Where is it and is there also a method for checking the max file size? (and where is it)

Thanks

Steve,

This post would be more appropriate in one of the develoment forums but rather than just scold and send you there read on...  This should work for you.

Dim strFileExtensions As String = CType(HostSettings("FileExtensions"), String)

All of the host settings are cached because they are used so frequently.  The challenge is finding the ones you want.  What I usually do is look at the records in the "HostSettings" table.

As for file size, the settings that determine how large of a file someone can upload are actually in the web.config file.  Specifically they are in the HttpRuntime section and the defaults are:

maxRequestLength="8192" requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192"

This sets the max to around 8 MEG.

Hope this helps,

Chuck
