I'm new to DNN and have version 5.00.01. I've downloaded a few free skins for this version, supposedly, and can't seem to find a way to upload them into DNN. I read the install guide provided, which said to log in as host, go to admin, skins, hover over the pencil icon and select install skin. I logged in as host, but I see no skin section to select under admin. I see it under host though, however, there is no pencil icon to hover over. Can someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. It can't be that difficult. But so far DNN is the most complicated thing I've ever seen...even worse that Calculus.

we removed the ability for admins to upload skins, as it's a security risk (skins can contain code based files such as ascx/aspx). You must be an admin to upload a skin, AFAIR it's under the host extensions screen. I believe this has been reworked for 5.1.0 to make it easier.

Login as Host Account

Click on Host Tab >> Skins

For DNN 5 you should find "Install New Skin" option, no longer pencil icon . Just click it and you should be able to upload your skin. Remember to read the skin package instruction cause you might asked to unzip it before you install the skin. Make sure you free skin is support your DNN version.

Don't worry, when you get use to it, DNN would be the easiest thing you ever met :)

please be informed, that this module has been moved in DNN 5.1 to the admin menu, however skin and Container upload requires Host permission.

I am currently logged in as HOST, I goto the admin > Skins tab and find nothing for installing a new skin.  This is not good!  Any ideas?
