This is actually the root issue as I had reported in Gemini back in March 2010:

http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/V...

It appears that it's priority has been lowered once again.

This appears to have been addressed in the 5.6.1 release

Has this bug (linkclick.aspx simply uses "application/octed") been fixed yet?

I need to host some PPTX files and this makes it almost impossible. Even if you insert a hyperlink, it uses LinkClick.asxp and therefore downloads as a ZIP.

Cheers, Rob.

Based on Chris Hammond's Post, 5.6.1 appears to resolve this.

according to latest comment on DNN-11895 by Charles Nurse, the following file types have been added since DNN 5.6.1:
  • xlsx,xltx - to the Excel contentType
  • docx, dotx - to the Word contentType
  • png - to new image/png contentType
  • mp3 to new audio/mpeg contentType
  • wma to new audio/x-ms-wma contentType
  • mp4 to new video/mp4 contentType
  • wmv to new video/x-ms-wmv contentType
IMHO the following file types are still missing:
  • ppt, pps, pptx, ppsx  > application/mspowerpoint
  • pub > application/x-mspublisher
  • svg > image/svg
  • eps, eps2, epsf, ps > application/postscript
  • epub >application/epub+zip
  • mov > video/quicktime
  • odp > application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation
  • ods > application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet
  • odt > application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text
  • odg > application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics
  • oga, ogg > audio/ogg
  • ogv > video/ogg
  • tif, tiff  > image/tiff
I would prefer having a host option for configuring these mappings, e.g. in Host :: Lists or a file.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
