Events 05.00.02 Release Candidate 1 available

Shortly after the formal release of Events 05.00.01 we created Events 05.00.02. This release covers a number of small bug fixes, performance improvement for recurring events and some serious rework of the upgrading logic to cope with inconsistent data from old versions of the Events module.

The complete list:

• Editing an event with a deleted owner (DNN user) no longer causes an exception
• Enrollment icons now only show for users who can enroll, or unauthenticated users when there is no role restriction, and only for future events
• Copy To End Date no longer copies the time in Event Edit
• Ajax icon no longer shows after event export to desktop
• Various enhancements made to handle inconsistent data from old versions of the module
• Edit events did not correctly handle different cultures in date validation
• Added support for UTF-8 in iCal export to support non-Latin characters
• Tooltip modified for better performance and improved lay-out options
• Major performance improvements on Event calendars with large numbers of recurring events
• SQL 2000 caused 4.1.0 upgrade to fail, the upgrade SQL has been changed to prevent this

In the upcoming days (weeks) this release (candidate) will undergo thorough quality tests by various DNN team members. Only after passing these tests with success, it will become an official release. Until then, the version that we have put together will remain as the name implies, a candidate release.

The release notes, PA pack, source pack and test script of this version (Events 05.00.02 RC1) can be downloaded from our special Events team website www.DNNEvents.net after registration and login. So this version is available to you as a preview of the final release. You can overwrite any previous installed version of Events, up to (including) 05.00.01.Just install the Events 05.00.02 RC1 as a normal DNN module.
