And so, has anyone written a human-readable (not the roadmap, which is thorough, but doesn't mean much to me!) version of the differences that users see in 4.9.4 vs. 5.1, a la question asked earlier in this thread?

I've read that 5.1 has been released, but the value proposition of upgrading still isn't clear - of course, if there's a true value (e.g., simpler use, new key features, etc), then it's worthwhile to upgrade!

5.1.1 is pretty stable and good for production use. Others may want to hold off till 5.1.2.

For 5.1.2 outstanding issues check this out:

Scanning down the roadmap for 5.x is always worth taking the time, even though it might be perplexing to understand sometimes.

There will be a 4.9.5 (still trying to get a an estimated time of delivery) but this will only fix very serious showstopping bugs. Many bugs fixed in 5.x will not be backported.

 Hey there...

Yep, we're going to stick with the latest in the 4.9 branch, since there doesn't seem to be any compelling reason to run with 5.x, and because its kinks are still being worked out. Until there's a very specific gain to be had from the UE/UI perspective, then we're in a holding pattern...

(and yes, if someone wants to put a human-readable post together about what the benefits of 5.x over 4.x might be, in a way that makes sense to the layperson, well, that would be useful!)

Thanks,
