I am trying to get all schooled up on SQL and installing different types of web apps, so last night I installed SugarCRM with no problems. I am using Windows 7 with SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition. So I thought I would go ahead and try DNN this morning. I was going through all the steps on the guide and following other tutorials that explain how to install in Vista. However, not only did I keep getting 404 erros when going to http://localhost/dotnetnuke, but I now can not get to my SugarCRM database either! What happened.

Did you install SugarCDM in Localhost and DotNetNuke in a subfolder?

Nesting applications has some challenges (not related to DNN) and I suggest to use multiple separate web sites instead, you simply need to add the site name into your hosts file in Windows/system32/drivers/etc folder.

Under wwwroot/ I had a folder for each site. I remember even while having issues installing dnn, I could still use Sugar. It wasn't until later in the day that I noticed that sugar had gone awry as well. But I was using Windows 7 so that could ahve been the problem. I am going to install Win Server 08 on a different PC and try my luck on there.

A slightly related response-

If you like SugarCRM you should try Vtiger - Vtiger is a fork of Sugar that has most of the features that Sugar only offers in their high $ professional edition.
