I am planning to evaluate the DNN features and downloaded the Starter Kit.

My Configuration will be "A", according to the DNN Installation Instructions:
Webserver: Windows XP/VISTA/Windows 7 desktop computer with ASP.Net 2.0 or newer and IIS 6.0 or newer
Database Server:SQL Express 2005/2008 running on the same computer

My current computer is Windows XP Professional.  Now if I need to install the webserver and Database server, what do you all recommend?  I know the instructions gives us choices above but I know there is a limitaion on what can be installed depending on your OS which in my case is XP professional?

So, the instructions says IIS 6.0 or newer, but running XP pro, doesnt it only run IIS 5.1?

Do you also recommend using ASP 2.0 with SQL Express 2005 or ASP 3.5 with SQL Express 2008 or mix match the combos, does it matter?

Thoughts?

For evaluation, you may either use XP Pro with free IIS Admin Pro from JetStat or Vista Professional, where IIS configuration is a bit more tricky.

You may select between SQL2005 and 2008 Express as you like and ASP 2.0 or 3.5 as you like - but DNN 5.2 will require ASP.Net 3.5 SP1.

I apologize my last response was a bit garbled.  Trying again.

Sebastian Leupold  , Just to verify your response

Download DotNetNuke 4.9.4 "Install" Community Edition, install it on a Win XP pro with IIS 5.1 and install SQL Express 2008 using ASP 2.0 or if I wish to use  ASP 3.5 Framework?

yes, and I strongly suggest to look at free XP Pro IIS admin from JetStat, it's of great help and allows you to create local websites like http://dnn494
