Just another quick update.  This issue has been confirmed when using IE8 with "Compatability View" turned off and also in Firefox 3.x.  It appears to be related to the DOCTYPE of the skin.  A DOCYPE of "XHTML 1.0 Transitional" yields the problem a DOCTYPE of "HTML 4.0 Transitional" works fine.  Turning on "Compatability View" with an "XHTML 1.0 Transitional" DOCTYPE will also solve the problem.

Anyone interested in following the status on Gemini can view the details of the issue here.  This affects DNN 4.9.x and 5.x.

Workaround for the Tooltip problem until a permanent solution can be implemented...

I came across a reply by Sebastian to another user's rendering problem here.  I decided to give it a try for my problem and it worked!!

Adding a META tag to Default.aspx forces IE 8 to emulate IE7.  While this may cause other problems it does solve my immediate issue with a client.  Check out Sebastian's post and the Microsoft KB Article he refers to in his post for all the details.
