Is it 5.1 ready to production sites ??

I've done some tests and i've no found interesting features more then 4.x

No real multilanguage solution...
No good compliant with modern browsers & standards...

On 5.1 :

  • to add a skin you to go to host/settings but i've no found a way to delete it !
  • to manage skin you have to go to Admin/Skin
  • to add a language pack you have to go to Admin/Languages but to delete it you have to go to Host/Extension...
  • I've no tried, but i've read on this forum that you cannot delete a user, only soft delete..

i'm confused !!!

Which is the real roadmap of core team ??

DNN 5.1 has a lot of changes compared to dnn 4. Placement of some commands is different, which can be difficult if you have a lot of experience with dnn 4. Localization was not part of the dnn 5.1. scope, and was never promised as such. Compliancy with browsers should be ok though, if you have compliancy issues, chances are the problem is in the skin, not in the core.

There are a couple of enhancements and changes in DNN 5, a number of them under the hood. The most useful ones for most users are delegatable admin modules and revokable permissions.

I agree there are severe issues in the admin UI which needs to be solved (I don't upgrade any of our or our client's sides until we got a proper solution).

Roadmap for future version still needs to be set up/published by DotNetNuke Corp.
