Hi guys,

I know this question has been asked many many times, but so far there is no confirmed solution. Can I host DNN on GoDaddy? I've wasted so many hours on reading posts from some users here, some are saying yes and some are saying very difficult and some are saying just a stright no.

  1. from what I've been reading, GoDaddy has some premission issues with the root directory and not allowing anyone to modify their permission and that I have to create a new directory under it where my site will look like: www.mydomain.com/MyDirectory. is this still the case?
  2. I do my development on my local machine then move them to the live domain, GoDaddy don't let you use your own FTP (SmartFTP), can I still transfer my updates easily?
  3. Beside PowerDNN, Are there any other Known to be good hosting companies?

Can you host at GoDaddy?  Yes, it can be done.  Do I recommend it?  No way!

I personally recommend either 3Essentials or PowerDNN.

You should be able to use an FTP client to upload to godaddy... I do it often... you might just need to call and get the correct IP for your site tho... I lost my settings one day, and I couldn't find the proper connection in any of the GD pages, but when I called the CSR got it for me quickly
