I think we should rename our view_state 'Big Mama!' ... She's huge!  What can we do?

The page bloat is slowing down our site.  I've read a blog post that says setting the Page State Persistance in Host Settings to 'Memory' will solve the problem but Mitch Sellers advises against that.

There is a module called open-view_state from xepient and I'm wondering if anyone has any feedback on it?  It will reduce view-state as well ... has anyone used this?

I'd first analyse, which module produces the large size of the view_state and check for an improved version of it. Some developers forget to optimize, which controls shall maintain state on postbacks, and which don't.

I'm sure thats a possibility ... we use many third party modules and it would be a time consuming task to analyze each one and then chase down the developer for an optimized version.

A solution that would "trim the fat' from the view_state would be ideal.  That's why I'm interested to know of anyone's experience with open_view_state from xepient.  I don't see very many other products out there for this kind of thing.  If there are please let me know ...

I realize you're just focusing on view_state, but can think of bigger elephants in the room when it comes to speeding up the serving of DNN. Maybe you've done those and have gotten to this point in your punch list.

Yes view_state has been near the bottom of our list for some time now and I'd really like to get this one tackled.  We've gone over Mitch Sellers suggestions and have even consulted with him personally.  We didn't directly discuss view state at that time though.

We'd like to do all we can to optimize the site within reason.  'Trimming the fat' via view_state would be great.

Has anyone used the Xepient product or know of anything similar?
