ive had to delete a database, when I recreated it then did a restore, I cant get DNN to read the database, keeps comming up with login failed to read database, the web config is ok, any ideas

I even made back ups of the original mdf files and tried them, still no luck

check the database in security setting if the user is added to the database, and the database user have also the login added.  If your user is the dbo, user and the login is not added, or the additional user is not added to the database after restore, you can't login.  It could also be that your maschine key in the web.config is changed, and that occours that you could not login in your DNN environment.

it seems that you are experience what is called an "orphaned users", this is the link to troubleshoot the problem: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175475.aspx

but before that, just make sure the connection string is ok. try to log in to the database using the credentials that you provided at the connection string. and see if the credentials able to log in or not. if can not log in, i'm guesing that you are experiencing "orphaned users". two things you can do:

1. try to troubleshoot the orphaned users

2. create a new credentials and update your connection strings using those new credentials. (username and password).

but I have another problem now

comes up with dotnetnuke  "this site is currently unavailable" ive rechecked everything i see the all the tables after the restore  any ideas
