hi

i'm using ver 4.9.1, very happy with it.

i needed to move the DNN installation from one server to another. i've sort of successfully moved the whole dnn folder / web directory from one server to another. both servers are windows 2003 server.

i zipped up the entire directory. ftp'd it down to my laptop. ftp'd it up to the new server. extracted it.

there's only one portal in the installation, it loads, i can login with any user, edit text, everything seems fine, but the portal won't let me add images.

PROBLEM description: i press the insert image button in the text editor, and then click on 'browse server' button but all i hear is a 'click' noise in IE. the image browser utility doesn't pop up like it should. the click noise symptom is like it can't find the javascript or the syntax is wrong (which is unlikely) and the 'onclick' event is just returning false and not doing anything. (from past experiences when i get my own javascript wrong on the onlick event).

if i go back to the old installation it works fine. So i can't understand it, as far as i know i have every file and folder from the old server's web directory in the new server's web directory. the database i can either point at the old one or the new one, but its a perfect copy of the database. do i have to update the guid of the server or something? je ne sais pas

so any ideas please would be welcome because i'd love to know why this has fallen over?

If you look at the files system do you see the images?  If so, try going to File Manage and Sync the files recursively.

I guess I should add that if you do not see the images at the file system level, then they are not there so that is the issue.

pleasego to FileMAnager in admin menu and validate, that all files are present. In top right corner, perform a recursive file sync.

next, make sure, you have enabled "auto file sync" in Host :: Host Settings.

Hi

thanks for your detailed reply.

something has worked. i have done a file sync, logged in as admin, and a file sync logged in as host (if that makes any difference). the files are definitely there, i can see them via FTP. and in the file manager.  auto-file sync was already turned on. I really had to persevere with it, i even restarted the app via host -> settings and then rebooted the server for good measure.

but...

i'm getting another error now.

PROBLEM desription: i'm logged in as admin, or host, i edit the text in a text/html box. click insert image button. click browse server. the initial imagegallery page is displayed with top level items. i then click a folder to browse deeper and it bins out back the webpage and i  receive the following error message on the page

A critical error has occurred.
