Hello,

I have been selected to build the Website for my Daugher's High School Band, They are wanting it to be interactive and allow the Students to create log ins and profiles, somewhat like Myspace or Facebook. Is this possible with DNN? And, Do I need to set this up through my Godaddy hosting or can I do it straight through the FTP.  The current site that I have started with was made in Visual Studio and being that I consider myself a Novice, I have not figured out how to do it through V Studio. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Jeff...

Active Social.  It costs money, but it's worth it.

First, I'll say Thank you for the feedback.

Ok, is that here on DNN or elsewhere?

Another question I have is, I tried to install DNN, but the domain is aliased under the primary domain in the hosting, and it would not install correctly, just kept getting a webconfig problem <customerrors>. I tried to install DNN using the ftp folder option and leaving it blank, but got the same problem, then when I checked the site in the primary domain hosting, it had switched up with a welcome.htm page. I just re-uploaded the default.aspx and all is well with the primary domain.

The folder for the domain that I am trying to install DNN on appeared to have populated the DNN files properly. ie; admin, install, portals etc.

Any idea what I did wrong?

For ActiveSocial, have a look at www.activemodules.com

regarding access to your web site, the site will get the alias it was first installed at. if you need a different alias, you need to enter it either via UI in Host :: Portals or in database table PortalAlias. HTH

Thanks for that info, the alias that I installed it in is the one that I need to use if possible. Do I go through the normal process in my Hosting Control Center and do something different for "either via UI in Host :: Portals or in database table PortalAlias. HTH" ?

 Thanks again, Jeff,,,
