Hi.  I have a site with custom module (self-built) that is sitting on its own Tab.  The module has several view and edit controls and is configured to be visible/editable to Registered Users only.  I also have a Login control on the same Tab for Unregistered users.

My module provides a user with an option to "Invite" another user via e-mail, and the email is sent out successfully.  The email contains a link to One of my Module's Edit controls.

Currently, when I logout from my site, then click on the emailed link, my site opens with the right Tab selected, but neither the Login Control is shown NOR the module Edit control I want.

The control is registered properly with DNN and the URL is built correctly.

Am I missing something conceptual?  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

- vlad

Not having seen the url that you are generating for the link I cannot comment on whether or not it is correct. However, keep these two points in mind about the standard approach to navigation between module controls in DotNetNuke.

1. When the url references a module control using 'ctl' query string parameter, that module control will be displayed (provided the user has necessary permissions on the module/tab) isolated alone on the tab and there will be a switch from the tab's normal skin to the admin/edit skin. Only when displaying the default module control (without a ControlKey) will the other modules of the tab be displayed.

2. If the user is not authenticated and the target control of your link has a type other than View or the module's permissions are set such that it is not visible to unauthenticated users, your target control will not be displayed. I would think that the default login tab would be displayed but since there is a conflict between these two points it may not be.

Are you seeing the default view control instead of the edit control your link targets? Have you set a non-default login page in site settings?

I was not aware of Point 1, but that will very well explain the "weird" behavior I am seeing.  Thank you very much!
