Hi,

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere (I'm sure it has) but the search facility seems to be timing out on my connection...

I originally installed my DNN instance with its database residing in the App_Data folder. I've since decided that I'd like my database to be moved to the standard SQL Express instance. Can anyone suggest a standard procedure for doing this? I thought I should only need to do the following:

1. Attach to the .mdf file under App_Data in SQL Management Studio
2. Backup the database and detach from it.
3. Restore the database as a different name
4. Edit the connection string in my DNN instance's web.config to point to the new database
5. Restart IIS/web site, etc.

Does this sound OK?

Thanks :)

yes, your method sounds OK, but I don't think you need to do a backup/restore.  From memory I think you can just attach the database permanently, but might have to change some settings like the single user mode and that type of thing.  But run with the backup/restore method if it works for you.
